All Wheel Drive

Gripping technology, whatever the weather.

With four wheel drive capability for traction when you need it, and two wheel drive the rest of the time to cut down to fuel consumption, Volvo's AWD really does give you the best of both worlds. Wheel spin is minimised to provide immediate acceleration and reassuring stability in slippery conditions, for a feeling of total control and driving pleasure.

Comfort or sport chassis

Do you want a lower and more agile chassis for a sportier ride, or do you prefer softer springs and a limousine feel? It is up to you. The sport chassis' lowered profile, shorter springs and firmer anti-roll bars give the New S80 a feel that panders and enthusiastic driving style. The comfort chassis is designed mainly for long-distance comfort of absolute limousine quality, not least in the rear seat.

Safety

Systems with attention on the road

This New Volvo S80 delivers the royal treatment - 21st century style. Technological scouts such as digital video and radar-based predictive technologies monitor the cars in front of you and adjust power delivery and braking intuitively. Call it second sight or a sixth sense - no one predicted intelligence would travel like this.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Auto Brake (optional)

Helping the driver to keep a safe distance from vehicles in front at speeds over 30km/h, ACC is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience. Just select the desired speed and the minimum time gap to the vehicles in front. If ACC is disengaged Distance Alert activates a warning light in the lower section of the windscreen to help you keep a proper distance.

Whiplash Protection System

The front seats of the New Volvo S80 are equipped with the Volvo whiplash protection system, WHIPS, to help prevent neck injuries. Activated if your car is driven into with sufficient force from behind, WHIPS cradles the spine and neck in a controlled manner.

Side Impact Protection

The Volvo's patented Side Impact Protection System distributes crash forces across a large part of the car's body, helping to reduce the impact on the occupants. And in the New Volvo S80, the dual chamber SIPS bags work in tandem with this structure, protecting the hip and chest areas with different pressure. Inflatable curtains also help reduce the risk of injuries.

Park Assist Camera (optional)

Add the Park Assist Camera to your New Volvo S80 and straining your neck becomes a thing of the past. A rear-facing camera monitors your position and displays the result on your dashboard information screen, keeping your car scratch-free and also warning you should there be any pedestrians behind you. It even shows your steering wheel position to make parking even simpler.

Exterior Design

In the New Volvo S80, the design is Scandinavian elegance at its best - simple and harmonious, pure and powerful. All the shapes and materials represent a continuous development of our design language. The wide grille, the powerful shoulder lines and the typical V-shaped bonnet all ensure that your New Volvo S80 will look dynamic from every angle.

Interior Design

Beauty is not exclusive to the eye. In the New Volvo S80, exquisite craftsmanship can be seen, felt and experienced in every detail of the refined interior. With Dynamic leather upholstery the front seats have an extra deep contour and padding that hugs you in those sharp corners. Thanks to our ventilated and heated seats you'll be kept cooler in the summer and warmer on those winter morning starts.

Clean Zone Interior Package - CZIP

Approved by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association, the New Volvo S80's CZIP builds on the Interior Air Quality System to offer asthma or hay fever sufferers a real breath of fresh air. When the car is unlocked via remote control, the passenger compartment is automatically ventilated for about a minute (should the temperature be above 10 degrees Celsius) to 'flush' impurities from the cabin.

Advanced Diesel Technology

Our advanced Coated Diesel Particulate Filter, CDPF, cleans the exhaust gases from over 95% of diesel particulates. Furthermore, the new fuel and engine management system reduces approximately 50% of the Nox emissions. The emissions of hydro carbon, HC, and carbon oxide, CO, are further reduced by the improved catalytics converter.

Interior Air Quality System

The New S80's cabin filter prevents dust, exhaust particles and pollen from entering the car through its ventilation system. Adding the optional Interior Air Quality System makes life easier for you and your passengers if any of you have allergies or asthma, and all its interior fabrics comply with the ecological Oeko-Tex standard 100.
