Get ready for the adventure

Leaving the city for tricky mountain paths or small muddy roads through forest areas, your XC60 will be part of the adventure. With large wheels, high ground clearance and Hill Descent Control it is a capable car for tracks outside of the lane markings.

Driving pleasure

When going on a fishing trip, to pick up friends or family in town, or on the highways, the XC60 will offer you a stable and responsive experience. It was developed for the high demands of a varied lifestyle. The weight distribution between front and rear is almost even, for stable and safe handling on small and bumpy as well as big roads. There are also a number of features that enhance the driving experience, for example the Four-C, which enables the driver to adjust the chassis.

You are in control

Especially on slippery roads all wheel drive provides increased performance and stability. In the XC60 the interaction between engine, chassis control, steering and braking is so smooth that you will never even feel it. Its responsive performance provides you with increased stability, and reduces understeer and oversteer.

 

Safety

A new level of safety

The XC60 takes safety to a new level. We have used the latest technological findings in materials and features - including impact, stabilisation and support systems. One example is the standard City Safety that responds if the car is closing in on an obstacle and helps avoid or reduce impact at low speeds. There are also several available security features, for example the personal car communicator and all round laminated glass.

City Safety

It can happen to anyone driving in slow city traffic. A sudden brake by the car in front of you and a millisecond lapse in concentration. City Safety responds if the vehicle in front is at standstill or moving slower in the same direction as you. It operates at speeds up to 30 km/h, running calculations 50 times per second to determine what brake force is needed to reduce impact velocity or avoid collision. City Safety comes as standard in your XC60.

 

Help avoiding accidents and reducing injuries

There are a number of available technologies in the XC60 that alert and help the driver avoid potentially dangerous situations. The Driver Alert Control and Lane Departure Warning signal when the driver is losing concentration and when the car crosses road markings without obvious reason.

The Adaptive Cruise Control is fitted in the Collision Warning and Autobrake. It uses a front-mounted radar sensor and camera to detect a vehicle in front of your car. When both systems determine that a frontal collision is imminent braking is activated. In less critical situations the driver is alerted and brakes are pre-charged. These technologies are however not a substitute for safe driving.

The Pre-Prepared Restraints system collects information with a sensor and prepares the airbags and belts for expected crash violence in low and mid-severe frontal accidents.

Caring for other road users

Safety in the Volvo XC60 also extends to other road-users. The additional low cross-member in the front helps activate the other car's crumble zone. It's positioned at the same height as the front of a normal-sized passenger car, so that the deformation zones of the other vehicle can function as intended.

The world sweeps by to the beat of your favourite music; just connect your portable devices or USB memory to the car system. With a choice of three audio levels - Performance, High Performance and Premium Sound - the XC60 has a sound system that makes your music come to life. Added to that there is also Bluetooth handsfree connectivity, for convenience and safety.

Versatile and spacious

When going on a longer trip or bringing bulky sports equipment the versatile 3-split seats are easily foldable. The tailgate can be opened fully with the remote control - a convenient function when you are loaded down with the heavy bags.

Crossover car design

The XC60 takes a new approach to car design. It is a new type of vehicle that mixes traditional XC character and ruggedness with a passenger cars style and a dash of coupe. For you who leads a varied life, who expects the different and has the personality to enjoy it. The high waistline gives it robustness while the roof line tucks in from front to rear the way you would expect in a sports model. And that's just the outside.

Environment

Modern technology to improve air quality

Breathe. The air in the XC60 is effectively cleaned and the amount of particles, such as pollen and other allergens, are kept to a minimum. The fabric and metal are tested against nickel and other harmful materials that may cause allergic reactions. Additionally the engines of the XC60 are highly energy efficient, to do their best for the outside environment.

Advanced Diesel Technology

Our advanced coated particulate filter cleans exhaust gases from over 95% of diesel particulates. Furthermore, the new fuel and engine management system reduces approximately 50% of the NOx emissions. The emissions of hydro carbon and carbon dioxide are further reduced by the improved catalytic converter.

85% recyclable

From the moment our designers put pen to paper to the second your XC60 leaves the production line, environment care is one of our primary considerations. That's why 85% of all components and materials used in the construction of the vehicle can be recycled for future use. Furthermore the XC60 is certified to the RRR EU directive for reusability, recyclability and recoverability.

Don't let the allergies stop you

Allergy is a rapidly growing problem, especially among children. The air in the XC60 is of a very high quality; in fact the Clean Zone Interior Package is so effective that WHO has classified it as 'best'. There are also features such as the Air Quality System that automatically senses impuritiees in the cabin and circulates the air through the active carbon filter.
